وها قد مات شخص آخر بين تلك الحوائط ،وآن أوان الاعتراف “
تبدأ الرواية بعد وفاة والد ماجي وإكتشافها أن أبيها لم يقم ببيع منزل ( بانبيري هول ) وأنه الآن اصبح ملكها ، المنزل الذي هربوا منه منذ سنوات والذي كتب عنه والدها روايته ” بيت الأهوال ” والذي كان سر تعاستها وآلامها والتنمر عليها طوال حياتها .
ماجي ظلت طوال حياتها تتسائل عما حدث في هذا المنزل وكلما سألت والديها يتهربوا منها ويطالبوها بالصمت وعدم السؤال لكن هذا الكتاب سبب لها الكثير من الآلام وهي لا تتذكر ما حدث هناك وتثق أن حديث أبيها في الكتاب كاذب ولم يحدث ويوصيها والدها قبل موته أن لاتذهب لهذا المنزل ابداً فكما قال لها :
” المكان ليس آمناً. ليس آمنا لكِ”
لكن ماجي تريد أن تعرف الحقيقة ، حكاية البيت الحقيقة.

نتعرف على الأحداث عن طريق الإنتقال في الفصول بين الفصول التي نتعرف من خلالها على الكتاب الذي نشره والد ماجي عن المنزل المسكون بالأشباح واسباب شرائهم وإنتقالهم للمنزل والأحداث التي تعرضوا لها حتى النهاية .. وفصول عن الوقت الحالى وانتقال ماجي للمنزل لمواجهة ومعرفة الحقيقة .

بأسلوب سلس ومشوق وترجمة جميلة يصحبنا الكاتب للتعرف على ماحدث . الرواية مكتوبة حلو وخفيفة كنت بجري مع الأحداث عشان اعرف ايه حقيقة اللى حصل رغم انى حسيت ساعات انها ممطوطة شوية إلا ان الاسلوب كان جميل ومشجع للقراءة وتويست النهاية كان مكتوب حلو .
الرواية بتجمع بين عامل التشويق والرعب النفسي بمعنى أدق نوع من التلاعب بالأعصاب .
